I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

1.7.

Proverbs 2:1-5 My Child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Turn your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.  Search for them as you would for silver seek them like hidden treasures.  Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.

My Thoughts
Recently Robby and I have started Geo Caching... which is a high tech treasure hunt.  This treasure hunting we have been doing makes me see these verses more clearly!!  When I had never hunted for treasures, as most of us haven't in today's world, you can read these verses and fill like you get the concept without really understanding all that this verse actually implies.

When you go on a treasure hunt you need a map and a couple of tools.  You have to decide to hunt for  your treasure and then you have to plan your trip. When you arrive at the place where you treasure is you have to begin hunting.  You have to think about the clues you have read..then you have to look and search and seek. Sometimes you have to start back at the beginning and look again.  You often have to sift through the weeds and the brush. The treasure is camouflaged so it can be hard to find when it is hidden in the brush.

If we treat seeking after God like a treasure hunt there are a few things we need to do.  First we need to decide to look for God... to learn all about Him so that we know what we are actually looking for.  Our Bible is our map...then we need a couple of tool to understand the map... often a dictionary so we don't miss the understanding and sometimes someone wiser than us to help us understand the instructions.  After we have studied our Bible, which has provided us with the way to go and clues on how to get where we are going... clues on how to seek God and find Him in all that we do... we have to use those clues to know the difference between what is no the treasure and what is the actual treasure.  Our hunt is seeking God in all that is out in the world... know how to recognize and know God from the things in this world.

I never really looked at it like this at all. This to me is so exciting.  The Bible is my treasure map... God and His love is the treasure.  We need to know the difference the world and God and His love.  God and His love are the treasure.  Matthew 6:22 tells us that our eyes are the lamp that provides light for our bodies.  When our eyes see good our whole body is filled with light but when our eyes see darkness our bodies are filled with darkness. We must use our Bible, God's word to be able to recognize the true light.  We need to be able to recognize our treasure in this world.

When we use God's word as our map so we can find our treasure we are able to find God and His love in this world...when we able to recognize that ...when that is what we begin to see... it will become a part of us, of who we are. That is when our lives will began to change in amazing ways!!
