I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

John 1:5 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it."

My Thoughts
Jesus is the light... here John the Baptist is talking about Jesus and what he came to do for the world....once we ask Jesus into our hearts he is always there... a bright shinning light... when we put that light in the center of our heart all parts of our heart and life's will be clear and bright... and we can see clearly the choices we need to make...and walking becomes easy and clear...but when we move that light to the far corner of our heart and turn our back on it, it is hard to see where to walk and what to do... but that light never leaves us, we can never extinguish it!!... we just have to go get it out of the corner and move it back to the center of the of our heart and then the paths we should take and the decisions we need to make will be clear to us! We can make room for God's blessings on our lives!

Luke 24:49 "And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised.  But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven."

My Thoughts

Jesus said this to the disciples just before he ascended up into Heaven...he left the people that loved him and followed him and practiced his teaching the power of the Holy Spirit to help them when they needed to be strong... we often think of the Holy Spirit as speaking in tongues.... it can be that but, it is much more than that... it is strength from heaven when you need it.... the Holy Spirit is power from heaven living in us and we have it we just have to ask for it.... in Luke 13 it says "how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him." ... have you ever been praying and your prayer took on a life of its own?...that is the Holy Spirit helping you with the right words to say.... we have the power of heaven any time we need it all we have to do is ask.... If you have an opportunity to be a witness to someone and you are afraid all you have to do is asked to be filled with the Holy Spirit and God through the Holy Spirit will give you the right words to say.... if you have to speak in front of people like for work and you don't think you can ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to help you.... God wants us to have a good reputation so if we ask the Holy Spirit can help us in work, in friendships, with strangers... if we are God's children he wants to help us in all situations, he wants us to be in good standing with others so we can promote his cause here on earth...God wants us to be somebody people listen to, respect and trust so that when we have an opportunity to talk about Him people will listen... then next time you feel you need strength to accomplish something ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit and see where God takes you!

Proverbs 14:10 Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can fully share its joy.

My Thoughts

Bitterness so covers up our joy and leaves little room for more joy... and if its in our hearts too long it chokes out any of the joy we started with.... God wants us to feel joy... to be joyful...to share our joy with others... we can't share anything with others if we are bitter!!...one reason is because people just don't want to be around bitterness... it's scary... it's hurtful... and it keeps people at bay.... and it the person it hurts the most is the person filled with the bitterness.... Joy on the other hand is contagious... it attracts people... it draws people in... it makes you beautiful... it makes you glow...and it even makes you look younger!!!.... the only way to get rid of bitterness is to forgive...  God forgives us only when we forgive others... yes sometimes it seems impossible to forgive some thing!!... been there I understand... God made you so he understands too... but God wants the best for you...and lets face it bitterness is not best for anybody... so take that first step toward joy... toward forgiveness... speak the words of forgiveness out loud in your prayers.... and when God hears you speak these words he will start helping you work on the action of forgiveness...do it every day until you start feeling joy... do it every day until you think to yourself I have forgiven this person.... this in just that was done to me...and your heart will start filling with joy... you will feel God's forgiveness in your own life.... you will start attracting people... their fellowship with fill you with joy.... try it  start with just saying the words out loud in your prayers... would love to know if this helps you!!

Luke 23:35 The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. "He saved others," they said, " let him save himself if he is really God's Messiah, the Chosen One."

My Thoughts

We know that Jesus was God's son... the Messiah, The Chosen... we know Jesus could have saved himself but he didn't because he loved us so so much!!.... what I want us to think about today is this... if we were drowning, or one of our children were drowning, or one of our parents or our spouse was drowning and someone jumped in to save us or them... and they were no where to be found afterwards.... then we looked and there there were sitting on the shore we would run up to them and thank them, hug them, we would forever love them for what they did for us.... any time we could we would spend time with them... we would be in constant awe of their selflessness... we would think of them daily... we would tell stories about how they had saved us even thou they didn't have to.... and if they said to us now all I ask is that you treat others people with the same loved I showed you... we would go about trying to do that!!... after all they saved us and that is all they asked in return!!!.... Lets treat Jesus who gave his life for us and our families just like we would treat a man that was willing to risk his life for us and our families... less love Jesus as much as he loves us!

Judges 6:16 The Lord said to Gideon, "I will be with you.  and you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man."

My Thoughts
Gideon was the weakest of his family... his family was the weakest of the tribe....and his tribe was the weakest of all the tribes... yet God chose to use Gideon to defeat the Midinaties who were so strong and big... but God said I am with you like they were just one man.... God is with us when we walk with him... when strive to learn and do God's will... when you hear God asking you to do something...or you know in deep down in your soul that there is something that you are supposed to do and you think you can't for any reason, remember God is on your side and when you do his will he will be with you... he will give you the words you need to say, or the resources you need to accomplish his will, he will replace the money you give to someone in  need... God will make you able and strong when you do his will...we may not be Gideon but we are God's child just as Gideon was.... and God gives us instruction in his word and in our hearts...never fear to do what is good, what is right, what God wants because God works for the good of those who love for him (Romans 8:28).... just like he did with Gideon.

Proverbs 14:4 Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.

My Thoughts

You can go about your life... trying to be good... doing what you think God wants... and things will be ok... things will often work out.... but for a really good life... to have all that we need... for Joy and Love and Hope and for a large harvest in our lives we need to love God.... We can have the farm our life... then so many of us have the garden.. (have God living in our heart)... but we need the strong ox for the large harvest (loving God).... think about it like this...when you fall in love you spend time with that person, you don't want to go a day without seeing them, you find out their wants and their needs,  you try hard to do the things that make them happy... you glow in their presence... you are thankful for the time you get to spend with them...you take time for them, you make time for them.... you tell them all your hopes, fears, dreams... you go about trying to make them happy... and when they love you back they do all those things for you in return...love changes us... it changes our lives... . love is a verb, and action word... love is work... just like an oxen is work... but just like an oxen it is work that rewards us..... and it is so worth the time it takes.... we need to love God and  to treat God like we love him...  if we do that our lives will change!... our harvest will grow unbelievably... don't you love people more that love you back??... God wants our harvest to be overflowing... spend time in each day loving God!... oh it will be so worth the work....think of it like this... you work the garden... no matter if you have the oxen or not... you are out there in your life working the farm..... you even planted the garden.....if you take time for the oxen it makes working the farm half as hard...and you get twice as much and more with the oxen... get the oxen... take time to Love God.

Psalm 92:2 "It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning and your faithfulness in the evening.."

My Thoughts
Right here in Psalms it tells us to start out our day with God and to end our day with God.... Let God be a part of our beginning and our ending...a part of our awake and our asleep... how wonderful our days and night will be when we learn to do this each and every day... taking time to really talk to God and stopping to listen... I just recently learned how to really hear God speaking to me and it is amazing!!

4.23.10

Psalm 91:14  The Lord says, " I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.

My Thoughts

God wants to protect us...imagine God's protection!!!  How awesome!!... Look at how we protect our little children... we do anything and everything in our power to protect their bodies from harm and their hearts from hurt... we want to protect them..  and when they are little that is easy because we are with them all the time... and we can do this because we ARE with them... and they love us so much they don't even want us our of their sight!... Ahh but then they become teenagers and they are busy with their friends and they are often far away from us and we can't protect them as well... we want to!!!... but they are not near enough to us that we are able to catch them if they fall!... they don't even love us as much as they did when they were little.... deep down they do... but it can seem as if they don't!!.... they don't even want to spend time with us... we aren't even sure if they love us sometimes.... and that distance in itself makes it hard for us to protect their bodies or their hearts.  God needs to know that we love him... we need to be close enough to God for him to protect us....we need to do the things God ask because he tells us what to do for our protection...we make rules for our kids to protect them...and when they are little  you can ask a them  to do anything and they love you so much that they do it... ok mommy and off they go to please us.... we need to spend time in God's word, with God... we spend time with people we love and if we love God we need to spend time each day with Him... learning about him... listening to Him... talking to him... pleasing Him and in return God will protect our bodies and our hearts... he will give us words to say... He will go before us in our day setting our day up for success... like we do for our children.... Maybe this is what Jesus meant when he said we need to be like little children..... we need to raise up our hands and be excited that God is here!!... we need to listen to his stories completely hanging on ever word eager to learn.... we need to find rest in His arms... we need to be eager to please God and when we find ourselves acting like teenagers... running off being too busy for God we need to stop and say can God really protect me if I don't spend  time with Him each day?.. we need to remember to love God with the heart of a child.

4.22.10

Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

My Thoughts

God is always telling us to seek wisdom... wisdom for prayer with Him... wisdom from reading His word... and wisdom from people who walk in faith with God... we all get different things from God's word... and if we spend time with others who do this our knowledge of God's plans can double!!... and we will grow wiser and wiser... and the more we understand about all of God's promises... the more we will love God the more we will want to walk in his word!!.... We should be kind and loving to others, not judgmental of others, we should have conversations with others... we should show patience and kindness to others... but we need to be cautious and not slip into wanting acceptance from people that are doing things that could compromise our ability to walk with God... when we let just a little wrong in our lives we open the door for the devil to convince that wrong is ok!!.... we need to be strong enough as Christians to set boundaries for ourselves that keep us in line with God's plan for our lives... and we need to do this in a way that does not put a wall between us and people that need to know how much God loves them....we need to seek out friends that love us enough to help us with our walk with God ... and we need to be the kind of person that other see as loving, kind, forgiving, joyful, not rude or selfish... we need people to see God in us through kindness and love so that they will want what we have... and fellowship with people that make us wiser in God's plan will help our light for God to shine brighter!

Joshua 23:16 If you break the covenant of the Lord your God by worshiping and serving other gods, his anger will burn against you, and you will quickly vanish from the good land he has given you.

My Thoughts

God's covenant for US was made through Jesus... and God promises us many things in his word if we are doing the things he ask us to do... he ask us to Love him with all our hearts, soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves in Matthew 22:37 and in I Corinthians 13:4 God tells what love is... Love is patient and kind, Love in not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.  It does not demand it own way.  It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth winds out.  Love never gives up, never looses faith. Love  is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance.... God wants to give us the many things he promises... God keeps his promises... but we have to do our part.... we have to Love God with everything we have... love him above money and things and people... then we have to love other people!!.... and the Bible tells us what love is.... so lets work hard today at being patient and kind, not being jealous or boastful or proud or rude, lets not demand our own way or be irritable, when somebody does us wrong lets be quickly forgiving and keep no record of it...let rejoice in truth... lets never give up and never loose faith lets be hopeful always!!... lets work really hard at doing these things... sometimes it feels not so easy to do...but  God knows when you work at it. Lets work at it and  lets see the wonderful things God puts in our lives along the way... lets not abandon God or the people around us or we will loose the very things that God has given us....lets show God we are loving because God wants to give us wonderful things like we want to give our children wonderful things he loves us even more than we know how to love... God wants to know we are trying! God will bless us for doing our best.

Joshua 21:45 Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

My Thoughts

Oh wow oh wow this is such and exciting verse!!...not a single promise was unfulfilled!!... God keeps his promises!!...and the Bible is filled with wonderful promises for our lives... God tell us if we live in his will there is oh so much he will do for us!!... Presents are so much fun...and gifts from God are greater than all the gives we give each other!!.... we need to do like Joshua told the Children of Israel in chapter 22:5 Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul. Will we slip up? Yes...that is why God sent Jesus... but if we are truly, sincerely trying to serve God... to learn what he wants us to do... if we truly love God with all our heart and soul he will give us all the wonderful things he has promised... and oh there are some wonderful wonderful promises in God's Word!

4.19.10

Luke 19:42 "How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace."

My Thoughts
Oh Jesus probably has said this about me so many times!!... I have felt like I always tried to live right, well most always... I tried!!.... I felt like I was a sweet person... I knew that I had asked Jesus into my heart!!.... but I still walked around without peace.... I had self doubt!!!... anxiety!!!... panic!!..  always needing to please people!!....and know that I pleased them...I constantly felt guilt.... and more of it.... I have never really been at peace with me... all those things can cause people to be judgmental because if I could find a fault in somebody else  I could for a moment feel a little better about me... then God started really working on me... He did it slowly.... he sent me a message in a book that I read about praying of things... I started praying for cards...and to get better a making cards.... and it worked!!!.... he used my cards as a way to get in my heart and make me know that he hears me!!!.... and when he knew I was ready he sent me a Bible (I had some yes) ... the  right Bible through a person he knew I wouldn't want to disappoint!!..one of my children...see God knows of all the people in the world I wouldn't want to disappoint is either of my kids, so he sent me this One Year Bible through my child.... all lined up in an order that I would read.... in a version that was easy for me to understand... and with that little seed of understanding that he would answer my prayers about my cards.... and that knowledge that I would want to please my kids... he gave me His Words in a way that I could understand them.... and my life has been totally changed!!... yesterday in the car...oh riding in the card with someone else driving can make me a total basket case, especially when my husband drives...(he drives for UPS...so I usually drive so he doesn't have to feel like he is working)... anyway I got really tired yesterday on our way home from visiting out daughter in Memphis, so I gave him the wheel...and prayed before he took it!!.... I didn't get anxious!! ... I know this may sound so minor to you...but believe you me in my life it was major!!... and that was such as sign that God is working in me....every day I have less doubt... every day I care less about pleasing people and more about pleasing God.... and I can feel him smiling down on me because he knows I am trying!!.... every day I love people more... (and I am a people lover by nature) but I love them more and more.... God's word is teaching me, making me, molding me into a better person, a person that is more confident, a person that believes in themselves and believes more in the Power of God's great goodness!... if you love God ... and want to please God but you are not reading His word on a daily basis I urge you to do so!!.... I promise you with prayer God's word will work out amazing things in your life!!... I beg you to take this journey with me and see what happens!!!... and if you start this journey with me and it changes you, and it will, please let me know... give me a chance to thank God for his wondrous power of love!... encourage me to to keep reading and learning and understanding God's great plan for my life!!

4.18.10

Luke 19:46-27 'Yes.'the king replied, 'and to those who use well what they have been given, even more will be given.  But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away....'

My Thoughts

Everything we have comes from God... and it is important to remember that... our talents, our money, our ability to work, our homes, all that we have was given to us by God and he wants and expects us to use it wisely... if we use it wisely God will give us more... but if we squander it, if we waste it, it we don't treat what we have as the wonderful gifts that they are, we will wake up one morning a loose it all.... One example of this is our money... just as money was use in the example in the verses  13 - 25 ... if we are spending our money on interest we are not being wise... we need to be earning interest...  if we save our money then buy we earn interest, if we buy then pay interest we are actually paying money for the money we have already been given... so lets never be guilty of saying to God he hasn't given us enough by over spending. Lets show God how much we love what he has given us by using it wisely... using it as the gift that it is.

4.17.10

Psalm 86:15 But you O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

My Thoughts

Oh how exciting!!... God has compassion for us which means that he as sympathy for us when we are in distressing circumstances... He know how we feel and he is there for us... we just have to tell him we need his help!!.... mercy is a blessing that is an act of divine favor... he wants to do wonderful things for us!!... just like parents want to do things for their children, we are God's Children and he wants to shower us with favor... he wants to take care of us when we are distressed!!... he never wants to be angry with us...he is like my grandaddy, DaDa was with his kids... one time my mother asked her mother "Why does daddy get mad at us when we hurt ourselves?" my grandmother said, "Pattie the same reason he would get mad if somebody else hurt you, he loves you and wants you safe."... That is how God is, he gets angry when we don't live right because he loves us and wants us safe.... he watches down on us and know when we are trying... but when we are being stupid he gets angry because he know we are making ourselves unsafe and it worries him for us!... God is filled with unfailing love for us...unfailing means constant, everlasting, inexhaustible... we just can't ware God out...he is going to love us no matter!!... he loves us constantly, God loves us for ever and ever and ever!!... and he is faithful with that love!!... so if we ever feel like God is angry with us we should stop and step back and take a look at what we are doing, we are doing something something that is not good for us... we need to remember that God loves us no matter, he has sympathy for us, he want to give us favor...he wants to forgive us that is why he sent Jesus... As we go through our day we should be mindful of how much God loves us... and that much love will surely make us smile.

4.16.10

Luke 18:14b For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

My Thoughts

We should always be humble.... when we become Christians and live in God's word God moves in to our bodies and takes over!!...what we do what we are able to accomplish is because of him.  We need to thank God constantly for taking us over and working through us. Our humility will win people to God... Synonyms for humble are apprehensive, bashful, content, courteous, demure, diffident, docile, fearful, gentle,  manageable, mild, modest, obliging, ordinary, polite, quiet, reserved, respectful, retiring, reverential,  self-conscious as in conscious of our actions, self-effacing, simple, soft-spoken, submissive, subservient,  tentative, timid,  unobtrusive, unpretentious... we need to show humility so that people feel welcomed by us...so that God knows that we know that he is the one working in our life. We need, as Christians to be approachable... the oppsite for humble are it's Antonyms: assertive, boasting,  conceited, egotistical, insolent, pretentious, proud, showy ... God would be so sad with  us is if we acted these ways as Christians and when we act in these ways we aren't apporachable.. people don't want to know us, to even be around us, they don't want to be like us, we are not being the Christians we claim to be... we can be wittnesses only by being humble... when Jesus comes again  we need to be acting  in a way the he can exalt us!.. act as Jesus did loving everybody, being kind to everybody, serving everybody...We need to  humble  ourselves to God and to the people around us... so that the people around us can see God lives in us.

4.15.10

Psalm 84:12 O Lord of heaven's Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.

Joy is defined as: the emotion evoked by well being, success, or good fortune.....Trust, a verb (an action word), is defines as: to place confidence or depend upon;  to commit or place in one's care or keeping; to rely on the truthfulness or accuracy of.  Trust is not just a word you say... "I trust in you God" and it be done.  Trust is a verb, an action word... trust is relying on the truth and accuracy of God word.  To show God we trust in him...to be able to be cared for by God we must learn God's word and live it. When we truly trust God, put our trust in God we will rely on his word to guide our steps, our words, our actions.  When we do the action of trust we will have joy!! When we do the action of trust, when we rely on the accuracy of God's word and live it we will have well being, success, and good fortune. Make trust an action in your life and  you will have well being, success and good fortune.

4.14.10

Luke 17:1 On day Jesus said to his disciples, "There will always be temptation to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who doest the tempting...."

My Thoughts

Oh wow... this one is huge... I bet we have all done this!!.. even if it seems as what we have encouraged is a small thing... sin is sin is sin.... so we need to be very mindful.... it is one to think about for sure!!... I know I will be  more aware of what I encourage people to do... in conversation have you ever encouraged somebody to gossip?.... I am guilty.... have you ever encouraged to tell a white lie?....I'm guilty..... have you ever tried to talk somebody into calling in sick when they weren't so you could spend time with them?.....I'm guilty...(it didn't work :) ) .... have you ever encourage someone to spend money they didn't have, to be bad stewards of their money??... In Romans it says that if you think something is a sin, it is so don't do it.... have you ever tried to talk somebody into doing something they felt uncomfortable doing.. to them this could have felt sinful.... and the list could go on and on... be bigger and bigger!!... its important to be aware of what you encourage people to do...and not to be guilty of tempting a person to sin... and its really important even with the "small" things because in Luke 16:10 it says "if you are faithful in the little things you will be faithful in the large ones"   think of little sins as gateways to bigger sins and be just as mindful no to do the little things that God sees as wrong... remember always that sin is sin is sin.... its us humans that rate the size of the sin.... be very careful to encourage only the good in people.

4.13.10

Luke 16:10 "If you are faithful in the little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in the little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities."

My Thoughts

God promises us his wonderful blessings when we do what he ask... but we have to show him that we can be responsible with his gifts.... We have to take even the smallest thing that we know how to do and bring honor to God with these things... it is easier to do this with the big things...things people see... things we think God will notice.... in the same way we tackle big problems in our life because we have to and we let the little problems go... we often know we are supposed to honor God with major things... and forget to honor God with the tiniest things....  we always go to God in prayer when there is a crisis.... but often forget he will handle helping us get dinner made if we ask.... We won't tell a big lie...but we will tell a little white lie.... God wants to see that he can trust us with the little stuff.... he want to see us give a part of our dollar.... so he knows we will give a part of our 1000 dollars.... then our 10,000.... he wants to see us use our gifts no matter how small we think they are before he can trust us with a bigger gift.... so stop today when you think "oh this is little it won't matter" and remember it all matters to God... that the way to bigger better things is doing the little thing right... it you say to yourself today oh this doesn't matter... stop and say I bet it does and do it right...bring honor to God by choosing to do the right thing... by choosing to do even the smallest job in a way that would make God smile down on you.... Mother Teresa became famous because she did even the tiniest task right... she took care of tiny problems.... she knew that every deed she did mattered to God.

4.12.10

Psalm 81:16 "Now I will take the load from your shoulders; I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.

My Thoughts

God wants to take the load from our shoulders!.... and he wants us not to have to work so so hard... he does want us to work and keep busy it keeps us out of trouble... but he wants us to have time to learn about him, to praise him, time to love our families... Remember the stories of the Israelites when they would go into battle their task would be so easy, they could win a battle with marching and great shouts..... because God was with them... and God was always with them when they were doing what God ask .... sometimes, even though God had actually traveled with them,  they would forget God... and not do what God ask them to do  that would be the time when they had to fight hard, really hard and still they would not win... God wants to be with us, he is on our side, he wants to take the load from our shoulders, but we have to be with God... show God that we will bring him honor.... do what God ask of us..... when life gets really hard... too hard to bare ask yourself where did I leave God behind at?... put him back in your life, try hard to be the person he wants you to be... and see if that load on your shoulder gets lighter.... sometimes you have to take notice... I have been dealing with a situation in my life and its been much much easier lately, amazingly so!!... and just now as I was writing about the Bible verse did I put the two together... I started reading my Bible daily on January 1st... and slowly things have gotten better and better... it was God taking the load from my shoulders because I am learning, and doing my best to follow him.... how exciting is this!!!

Proverbs 12:27 Lazy people don't even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.

My Thoughts

In the US we have so much!!... so so much!! and we tend to want more and more and more....you can go to thrift stores and see clothes with the tags still on them... there are storage buildings on every corner...I make cards and I have tons of paper to make cards with and I still want more... often times so I won't have to dig through what I have to find the right piece, I am not as organized as Hobby Lobby!!... I believe this verse is telling us to be mindful that God gives us what we have, everything we have is a gift from God and we should treat is as such... treasure it... like a child treasures their favorite blanket... use it until its worn out... search through what we have to find what we need before we go buy more... be good stewards of our things... then we will have more money to be good stewards of... we will have more when we see someone in need and we can help them and feel good about it... we need to treat what we have as just what it is A Gift From God.... have you ever seen someone throw something aside that was a gift you gave them, just like it didn't matter... it can hurt your feeling, make you angry, make you not want to give that person anything else ever again!!... we should never treat the things we have, the things God gave us in a way to make him upset at us... we should show our thankfulness by making "diligent use of everything we have"... I really need to work on this one!!

Proverbs 12:26 The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.

My Thoughts
Good advice is not always the advice someone whats to hear... we need to guard against saying what someone wants to hear when we know its bad advice, when we know it condoning  thoughts or actions that are wrong.... when someone comes to us for advice we need to think it through... and when we choose the advice to give we don't need to ask ourselves if that person/our friend will be pleased with the advice we give ......we need to ask ourselves if God will be pleased with the advice we give... don't let your need for approval be a place that the devil can sneak in!... I know the devil loves that weakness in me... I am really going to work on this one!

Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

My Thoughts

I keep trying to pick a different Bible verse this morning.... but I kept coming back to this verse... so I thought that God was telling me something and I needed to listen.... so often our friends or family can come to us with worry... every day worries... worries about something they have done or said to someone... often we choose to fuel the fire with our words... "I don't blame you for saying that or doing that"... when we should be encouraging... when we should cheer them up... we should say that is easy to fix... or can you think of a way to make it better I will help... we should encourage people to do better to do the right thing... to take the steps to make the situation better... this would cheer them up... make their day better... keep them from more worry... today when we find our self in a situation lets not fuel the fire, lets encourage a solution and make that little part of the world a happier place, a place to feel joy.

Luke 12:35-36  "Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast.  Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks...."

My Thoughts
Live each moment of each day in a way that would make you face light up if Jesus tapped you on your shoulder at that very second... if you find yourself acting in a way that would make you ashamed if Jesus tapped you on  your shoulder, stop, say a prayer, regroup and go forward... I know that you are thinking oh this is easy to say.. .but to do it... now that is hard... God has planted everything in us we need to be able to accomplish these thing if we try... we will slip but that is where the stop, say a prayer and regrouping comes in.... We have the seed to be the person God wants us to be all we have to do is fertilize that seed with God's word, prayer and fellowship with people that remind you to do the right thing.

Luke 12:32 "So don't be afraid , little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom."

My Thoughts
When I read this verse and the verses leading up to it, starting at verse 22, I thought about my kids... especially when they were little, little kids...  you know how you want to give your kids the world, you want them to have everything they need and everything they want and you do what is in your power to give it to them, but you don't give them things they won't use wisely because you don't want them to be hurt..like you wouldn't give them a BB gun if they couldn't follow the rules and not hurt themselfs or othres.... as much as they wanted it...and much as you wanted to make them happy ... keeping them safe would be the best way to show them love..... you give them rules for their safety, rules that will keep them healthy, rules that will make their lives better... the rules you give your children are all because you love them so much!!...and God loves us even more than that... it says right here in Luke 12:32 it give God great happiness to give you the kingdom!!... just like we feel great happiness when we give our children the desires of their hearts at Christmas... Remember that God will keep you safe, he will keep you fed, he will keep you clothed if you are following his rules for life... his rules for life ensure your happiness, your full bellies, your shelter... and if we will be mindful of the extra gifts God wants to give us and use them wisely... use them to honor God and others... God will be so excited and give you more and more and more of his blessing... God only with holds things from us when we don't use our "toys" safely for us or for others... we only need to worry about food and shelter when we are not good stewards of our money that God has already provided for us... if we don't use our gifts from God wisely he has to choose to with hold them only for the safety of our souls...but when we use our gifts wisely God gets all excited, God feels great happiness because he can shower us with his blessings... so try your best learn Gods rules, and to follow them so he can shower you with his blessings... so God can give you his Kingdom.

Proverbs 12:20 Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace!

My Thoughts
Something made me read Romans last night, I did it during the ball game... and I think I needed to read something in Romans to understand this verse... Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil means that we trick ourselves into believing what we are doing is ok... it not deceit of another person...it a deceiving of ourselves... we tell ourselves half truths so that we can do something we think is wrong and not feel bad about it... but have you ever noticed you still feel bad... you have to later deceive yourself again by telling yourself  "it is ok that I did that because"... in Romans it tells us that if we think something is wrong it is a sin to do it!!...it is as simple as that... doing something we think is wrong even if its not written down as a sin is still a sin...now think back about a time when you thought of doing something wrong... and you tried to convince yourself that it was ok...but you couldn't...and you decided not to do  that something because you felt it was wrong... notice you didn't have to ponder and plot all day,  to worry, to over-think your actions ... you just went about enjoying you day.. enjoying being the key word here!!!... enjoy is to take pleasure in... when you are enjoying your day.. you are filled with joy... joy is pleasure!!... the movies can make "joy" seem bigger than life but "joy" is simply being able to take pleasure in what you are doing... we are rewarded with joy when we do good... when we just go about our day doing what is right... so next time you feel yourself convincing yourself that something is right.. stop and say... I will not deceive myself today!!... if you find yourself plotting and planning stop because that plotting and planning is self deception... don't talk yourself into sin... just say to yourself no I would rather enjoy my day!!.. and take notice of that good feeling inside of you and know that feeling is the 'joy" God is rewarding you with.

4.5.10

Luke 11:34 "Your eye is a lamp that provides light for you body.  When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light.  But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness..."

My Thoughts
Oh this spoke to me today!!!...and was so exciting!!.... Jesus was speaking when he told the people this!! ...and he went on to say in Verse 36 "if you are filled with light, with no dark cornier, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light."... wow!... this light encompasses so much!!... first I think it is telling us if we see the good in people and situations...if we look for good... and sometime you have to look really hard... you will see good...there is good all around you...but you have to look for it... what you look for you find!!!...and if you choose to see the good... if you expect the good from people... that is what you get in return!!... and if you see good... it makes you feel good... if you "look for light your whole body is filled with light!"... another part of this is when we look for God we find God!!... when we seek God he is there for us!!!... if we ask where are you God?? it is because we are not looking for God!!!... we are looking at all the bad around us...and God is not in the bad... God is in the good... so find the light in your day... be filled with light... expect light ... seek light... Look for Good, Look for God in all the rooms of your life!!.. they say that if you expect good from people they will be good, if you expect bad from people that will not disappoint you... expect good from people... live in a way that people want to do good around you... by being good, by expecting good we create good... we help light up the corners in our rooms... try it today!!... let your eyes be a lamp that provides light for your body...look for good... look for God!!

4.4.10

Luke 11:9-10 Jesus said "And so I tell you, keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  for everyone who ask, receives.  Everyone who seeks finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

My Thoughts
I have heard this verse lots in my life without hearing the parable just before it.. in Luke 11:5-8 it says that if you ask for bread from your neighbor in the middle of the night and he says don't bother me I am sleeping... if you knock and knock and knock he will give it to you to make you go away!...the picture in my head makes me laugh....I can so see this... if you bother my sleep .... long enough I will do anything to make you go away!!.... I would also think you must want this really bad to keep bothering me, if you want it that bad I will give it to you!!.... before I read verses 5-8 I thought of asking God a few times... now I know to ask and ask and ask .... all day long every day until I get what I want.... I think too if I am going to do this I better be for sure I want it...because I may be going to get what I keep asking for if its good for me or not... or you can look at it this way.... if I don't want it bad enough to take the time to ask over and over and over and over and over... if I don't want it bad enough to remember to ask again and again...then I don't want it bad enough for God to stop what he is doing and make sure I have it... so remember if you need something bad enough...or you want something bad enough... ask and ask and ask and ask and ask... don't stop until you get it!!...but make sure if you are going to do this that you know its a good thing!!

4.3.10

Luke 10:33-34 "Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.  Going over to him the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them.  Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him."

My Thoughts
It is easy to take care of people we love, that love us... well most the time it is... the true test of our character is how we take care of the people that we don't know or love... how we take care of the people that we don't like!.... My son once said "our neighbor is the hardest person to love, because they live so close we know all their faults, they are the person so close that they can get on our nerves the most"... the person that we like the least is the person that we are suppose to love as much as we love ourselves.... that is what the Samaritan did... he took care of a person that despised him... he loved his neighbor... In Luke 25-27 when one of the religious leaders ask Jesus "What do I do to inherit eternal life?"... Jesus reminded him that he knew what he was suppose to do...and the man said that you are to "love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength, and all your mind. And, "love your neighbor as yourself."... Jesus said there are two things we must do to get into heaven... one was to love God...now that is easy, look how much God loves us, the second one is that hard one... it is to love  the person that doesn't even like us.... to pray for them, to do for them, to be kind to them... to love them as much as we love ourselves....even if they are not being kind to us.... I know this sounds hard but remember "All things are possible through God." Matthew 9:26 even loving your neighbor.

4.2.10

Luke 10:5-6  "Whenever you enter someone's home, first say, 'May God's peace be on this house.' If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will be return to you."

My Thoughts
This verse says to me that we should pray for everybody we know... wish them blessings... wish them great things... ask God to do wonderful things for them... pray for peace for their hearts and lives... that we shouldn't make a judgment on them that is not our place...  then let God decide if they deserve blessings and peace... because God knows... we will get our blessing because we have done the right thing.... we will get their blessings because we have done the right thing... so today when you spend time with the people at work... or at the ball field... or waiting at dance lessons or art lessons... where ever you are spending your time... when you are in the presence of someone you are in "their home".... their space... say a quick prayer for the people you are around... don't decide if they need your prayer... don't make a judgment about them... just say a prayer for them... ask God to heap blessing on their lives, to give them peace. and let God decide the blessing!... try it ... this could change your life forever!

4.1.10

Psalm 73:26 My health may fail, and my spirits may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

My Thoughts
I have Lupus so this was a very important verse to me... I really thought about it... as always I prayed for understanding of this verse... but wanted extra much to understand!!... and here is what God is telling me about this verse... "I am with you!!... your heart is so what is important to me... you may be sick and your may feel to tired to go on... but that doesn't meant I have left you... your heart belongs to me and I am with you always!"... so even when you are tired... and sick ... and sick of being tired, God is with you and he is taking care of the very most important part of you... God is taking care of your heart... so don't give up!!... let Gods love shine through your pain.... and if you are sick and you are tired... if your spirit is weak... remember to have joy in what God has given you!!... just yesterday I was feeling really weary from my Lupus flair... it can make me feel rather useless... but I knew I needed rest to feel better... to get better from my flair... and the useless feeling was very counter productive as far as rest was concerned... so I thought ok Jeannie, be happy with what God has given you... and God has put me in a place in my life where I can rest when I need to... so I decided to be happy... to have joy... and to lay down and rest and enjoy my rest.. to relish a day or two or three of being all snuggled in... I decided to be thankful for where I am...  trusting that God has my heart and that is what mattered... my spirit grew stronger... and the better my spirit is the stronger my body is... I will now always think when I am sick.. or when my spirit is weak... its ok Gods got my heart.
