I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

Proverbs 23:1-3While dinning with a ruler, pay attention to what is put before you. If you are a big eater, put a knife to your throat; don’t desire all the delicacies, for he might be trying to trick you.

My Thoughts
When the scripture talks about kings I have begin to think of them as people who have or can get anything they want. Just by demanding it. So much is at their beck and call. Imagine what a feast at a king’s table must look like! Imagine if you were a big eater and the king had researched you, sent people out to friend you and ask about all that you loved to eat. Imagine that he also knew that if you loved chocolate cake, he would know with out a doubt that you would love Double Chocolate, Chocolate Ripple cake filled with a creamy chocolate filling. If he wanted to win your heart, or maybe just your loyalty he would fill his table with all kinds of chocolate deserts. He would tempt you… and promise you more and more and more. Imagine what he could do to destroy you while he had you at his table every night distracting you while he went about taking everything that was truly valuable to you. There you are eating away, being dined by the king, how could anything be going wrong?? Yet while you have your mouth and tummy full, while you are to busy to notice, the king at his beck and call has people taking your life apart while he has you busy thinking all is good with the world.

Look at all Satin has at his beck and call!! Look at how Satin uses what can be used for good and makes it something awful. Take TV for example… it is a wonderful tool .. It is affordable… not many homes at all are without one these days…if they are it is by choice. But the wonderful advantage to television is that we can get important news out to everyone! We can be alerted about storms so we know to get in safe place. We can bring church into homes where people are housebound. We can be entertained. But we can also be distracted to the point of not knowing about anything that is going on around us. Television has made it possible to live in our own little world and never get board enough to care about what is going on in the world around us…even in our own streets. Television distracts us while Satin goes about destroying the world around us. We have all kinds of distractions today… work, things, things and more things, the latest fashions, so many kinds of food, just for the asking…we sit at a table and just order and pay. Some of us don’t even pay now…we promise to pay later with our pieces of plastic that promise to give us those wonderful priceless moments. We get so distracted by our wants and our work to pay for those wants… we get so distracted by entertainment…that we forget to take time with God. When that happens Satin has us right where he wants us… too busy to notice that our world is in need of love… love for God and love for each other.

This scripture tells me that we need to be very careful of distractions… because it is one of the tools the devil uses to steal our souls.
