I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

11.19.12

Proverbs 28:2 When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily.  But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.

My Thoughts
My mind today just kept going back to this verse!!  I kept trying to find a different to ponder...but I kept being led right back here.  We want to blame our leaders for the failures or our nation... but the first line in this verse tells  us that we can't. It says "When there is moral rot within a nation its government topples easily."  Our nation is not failing because of our President, nor is it failing because of our Congress or House.  It is failing because of the moral rot of the people.

It is a lot like this... TV has gotten worse and worse over the years... much less moral... we blame TV...but if we didn't watch the immoral things on TV they would not be there.....If we boycotted the companies that advertise on TV shows that families should not watch we would see a change in TV. But we out of the "need" to be entertained watch the best that is on instead of refusing to watch at all if nothing with moral value is on.  We have the ability to change TV...we just don't take a stand..we don't come together... we don't work for the good of all.

If we the people would live moral lives, doing what the Bible says. The government would know by our actions that  they could not get by with passing immoral legislation.  The power the Government has it given to it by the people... if we would once again become a moral nation... we would once again have a moral Government.  If we the people would not stand for it... our government could not act in an immoral way. If they  did the would loose their power and less face it so many of them are in office because they crave power.  If it took being of moral character to have power they would be of moral character.

We can go around being separated from each other and we can't keep playing the blame game.  The devil has us just where he wants us when we do that!!  We have to take responsibility for ourselves ... for our actions... for our families.  We have to choose to make the right choices, to live Godly lives!  Just as TV represents our world today... so does our Government.  Congress can't find a meeting place, a common ground because they are selfish and want their own way... We the people often make the wrong choices for the same reason, we are shellfish and want our own way!!

If we want our government to quit overspending we have to become individual people that do not overspend.  If we want our government to be accountable for their actions we have to take accountability for our actions.  If we want the government to work hard...we have to be people that are willing to work hard.  If we want to expect our government to pay off their loans, we have to be a nation of people that pay off their own personal loans.  If we want a government that prays we have to be people that pray!!

So often we feel like their is noting we can do... oh but we are powerful, our lives matter, our actions matter. When we change our government will change right along with us.  When we become people that stand up and say "This is not acceptable!" At home, at the soccer field, at dance lessons, at work.  Then we will see change in our government.  When we become Godly, moral people, God will make sure that our government becomes a Godly, moral government.
