I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

2.16.13

Mark 2:1-5 When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room. even outside the door. While he was preaching God's word to them, four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat.  They couldn't bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head.  They they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, "My child, your sins are forgiven."

My Thoughts
This is the first time I read this story and thought about how these men didn't give up.  The could have seen the crowds and turn around and went home.  But they didn't they climbed up on the roof, dug a hole in the roof and lowered the man down.  They did everything they could to get near Jesus.  How many times do we want something from Jesus but don't make every effort we can to get close to Him?  How can we expect Jesus to take time for us when we don't take time for him?

This man didn't say Jesus make a way for me to get near you and heal me too.  He and his friends did all they could to get close to Jesus...then they asked for help.  They went to Jesus they didn't ask Jesus to come to them.   What do we miss out on because we don't go to Jesus and spend time with him? How much would Jesus give us if we were spending time in his presents daily?

I imagine it wasn't easy to get that man on the roof... dig a hole and then let him down. But look what came from the effort.  It isn't always easy to make time to spend time with Jesus.  Oh but it is so worth it...the blessing that come from the effort are so much bigger than the effort.
