I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

10.26.11

Psalms 97:11 Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right.

My Thoughts
Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. When our hearts are right we have joy!!  It is funny how much time we spend searching for things that will make us happy. We have all done it...we all do it. Media is always telling us having this... or having that will make us happy.  "Priceless" moments that we can't afford will make us happy. A face lift will make us feel better about ourselves and we will be happy. The next new gadget will make us happy. We want our children to be happy so we work hard at making sure they have the "things" they need to be happy.  We spend countless hours searching for happiness.  When all along happiness if found when our hearts are right with God... yet in all our timely endeavors we fail to stop and make time for God.  Our joy is found in God, who loves us so much!  When we spend time with God, God puts it in our heart to do right. Philippians 2:13 tells us  For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." When we seek after God, God will give us the desire and ability to do what is right... our hearts will be right...then the joy, the happiness will come! We make the simple so complicated, because we listen to what the world says about being happy.  And Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength...We go about searching for happiness in earthy things... exhausting ourselves.... running out of energy... wearing ourselves down to the point of being no good for anybody all the while looking for happiness.  When we take time for God not only does he fill us with joy...that joy becomes our strength. God's great love for us has the ability to change our lives in amazing ways and all the while giving us that happiness we all keep searching for...and the strength we need to get through all that we have to face.  Our part is really easy, seek after God, seek to know God... happiness and strength follow.
