I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

John 10:3b-5 He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.  The won't follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don't know his voice.

My Thoughts
We can not follow Jesus if we don't spend time learning what His voice sounds like.  I know... I tried, for years, to do what Jesus wanted without finding out exactly who Jesus was and what Jesus would say to me and what His voice sounded like.  Satin tries to sound like Jesus so he can fool us... if we know Jesus we know what Jesus sounds like...because we recognize his voice and we know what Jesus would and would not say because we know His heart.  When we learn what Jesus sounds like, what words Jesus would say and what words He would not say we know when to run. And when we run we need to run straight to Jesus.

And do you know why Jesus walks ahead of us and not behind us herding us up?  Because Jesus gives us free will to follow Him.  Jesus gives us a choice.  And because Jesus is finding the safe places for us to land...He can't do that from behind. When I wrote that last sentence I thought of how a soldier sends out his dog ahead of him...that dog will risk his life for the solider he loves so much. He will sniff out the land mines so his soldier can step on safe and solid ground.  That is the very reason Jesus walks in front of us... so that He can sit us on safe and solid ground. Satin on the other hand will lie to us and tell us he is doing something good for us. Then he will sit us right slap dab in the middle of the field of lands mines, blindfolded then step outside the field and shout "fire run!" Not Jesus, Jesus loves us so much that He takes us with our eyes wide open and says to us, "Look, I have just stepped here and it is safe to follow me!" Then He will even take our hands if He needs to.  If we are not paying attention and we step on a land mine along the way, Jesus will come back and nurse us back to health.  Then He will stand in front of us leading us again.

There is no greater love than a man that would lay down His life for us...and that is just what Jesus did.  We need to know the voice of someone that would do that for us! We need to know the voice of Jesus!!!
