I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

Psalms 42:5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?  I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again -- my Savior and My God!

My Thoughts

The psalmist here is so sad and discouraged with his life that he has forgotten to remember that God will help him with his discouragement... with his sadness.... from the explanation points you can see that when he gets himself together enough to remember that God will help him he gets so excited, so excited that he remembers that God isn't just Lord over him...but also his Savior...that God will save him from his sadness...God will help encourage him.... we can all be so sad, so discouraged that its hard to remember what day it is, the name of someone we are talking to, how to make coffee when we make it every day... we all get so overwhelmed with life, with grief that we even have to sometimes remember to breath... God understands that, and he waits patiently on us... he sits and watches us...wanting to catch us and hold us...its like when we want to catch a baby that is learning to walk and we know its going to stumble... we are there with our hands held out waiting for that baby to need us... God is waiting for us to know we need him... waiting to save us.. he knows we are about to fall, to forget, he knows when we are overwhelmed with sadness or discouragement... he is waiting there to  help us.... all we have to do is reach out... like babies reach out to their mom's and dad's when they are learning to walk... God waits for us... just reach out.

I have been thinking about this scripture a lot lately. Whenever sadness overtakes me, being grateful, being glad or thinking of others is what gets me through it. God always has such great practical advice for what ails us.
