Mark 7:32-35 A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to him, and the people begged Jesus to lay hands on the man to heal him.
Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put his fingers into the man's ears. Then spitting on his own fingers, he touched the man's tongue. Looking up to Heaven, he sighed and said, "Ephphatha," which means, "Be opened!" Instantly the man could hear perfectly, and his tongue was freed so he could speek plainly.
My Thoughts
How have I read my Bible through and it taken four times for my to hear this story? It is such a symbol of how when we go to Jesus, when we seek, that God opens our ears to hear and our mouths to speek. The more I seek God by reading his word the more I understand it and the more I understand it the more I find myself speaking it. I use to wonder how to be a witness to people beyond my actions..but in seeking Jesus Jesus has made my ears able to hear and understand God's word and my mouth able to have the words to say to tell others what God has done for me. This may be one of my favorite stories, now that it has popped off the pages into my heart!
