I decided to start this blog (2010) because my son, John-Robert gave me a One Year Bible for Christmas, the New Living Translation... reading it has changed my life... I post a daily Bible verse on my Facebook page every day and it has been well received... I thought that this would be a wonderful way to share part of what I read each day!... I hope that you enjoy it.

This Year 2012 I am going to do things a little different... not much...just a little. I am again reading through my One Year Bible (for the 3rd time). But I am also using "The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word" by Joyce Meyer. This book is divided by putting scriptures under different categories so they can be used to speak over our life situations. Each day I will read a category of scripture and pick a scripture in that category to write about.

Psalms 119:133 Guide my steps by your word, so  I will not be overcome by evil.

My Thoughts
This verse alone tells us that if we keep our eyes, our mind and our heart in God's word that it will be so much easier to make the right decisions.. if God's words of right and wrong are in our heart so much that we know what they are without having to look it up... there words will be right there in your gut telling you what is right... God's word does overcome evil... God's word if its in your mind and heart will help you make the right decisions... The TV remote works because we know the instructions and use them, our car works because we know the instructions and use them, we can bake a perfect cake when we know the instructions and use them... God's word is the instruction book for our life, we need to know those instructions and use them!

John 19:1-3 Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip.  The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him.  "Hail! King of the Jews!" they mocked, as the slapped him across the face.

My Thoughts
I don't know a person, not one single person that when they went to do something that they knew was wrong wouldn't stop in their tracks if they had to witness someone being flogged with a led-tipped whip, or slapped across the face... I truly believe that everyone I know including myself would say no no don't do that I won't commit this sin if you just wouldn't do that!!!... and if they committed a sin without being aware of it and then had to watch such a horror because of that sin wouldn't beg, literally beg for forgiveness of the person that endured such abuse because of their action... that wouldn't cry at the fact they were responsible for such abuse... yet we go about every day sinning, doing wrong and this is just what Jesus did for us... he took the abuse for our sin... this picture alone should make us all fall on the ground and beg forgiveness... it should make us all want to go forward and sin no more... if we would learn to put this picture in our head in association with doing wrong would we not do better?

II Samuel 14:14b But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.

My Thoughts
God loves us so much!... He thinks about us all the time, he wants us to walk with him, to talk with him... God wants us to live in a way that he can heap blessing on our lives... and if we take the wrong fork in the road God is always connecting out path to his so that we can find our way back... if we are lost from God he wants us to come back.. God wants to forgive us our sins, no sin is so bad that God won't forgive us... all we have to do is reach out to Him and he will take our hand ... and as we start walking with him again he will again reward our steps when we take our steps with Him.

John 17:13 (Jesus talking with God) "Now I am coming to you.  I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy."

My Thoughts
Jesus wants us to be filled with joy, he taught the world thing while he was here that would give us joy, and God made sure that they were written down so that we could know them to 2000 years later.  Joy comes when we do what Jesus taught and he taught us to love God first and to love one another just as he loves us (Luke 10:27)... spend you time today loving everybody around you... and then step back and take in all that joy.

5.27.10

John 16:27 (Jesus said) for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I come from God.

My Thoughts
My children each had a teacher that loved them beyond belief... Mrs. Elliott and Ms Lee.... they each loved one of my children so much... and would tell me about how much they loved them... they would tell me about how wonderful my children were... I can tell you that I loved these two ladies beyond your imagination... I still do and would do anything for them to this day if the phone rang and they needed something .... I think of them often and my heart just melts... when I run into them I  wrap my arms around them and hug them up... they where then, are now, and forever will be dear to my heart.  So just imagine how God feels about us when we love Jesus... when take time to recognize what Jesus did for us... Jesus was up in heaven with God and he agreed to walk on earth and endure more than we can even imagine, we think our days on earth can be hard!... but look what Jesus went through all for us.... Jesus walked this earth with people hating him... talking about him, wanting him dead for no reason. Jesus stood as a crowd demanded his death... Jesus too a horrible beating before being..... Jesus died a horrible death on the cross for us even though he could have ask God to take him home...  Jesus did all that for us.... no wonder God turns his back on us if we don't believe in Jesus... and just think how wonderfully happy it makes God when we love His Son, when we brag on His Son, when we talk about all the great things His Son did for us... when those teachers loved my children I was so excited that they knew those were my kids!!... it made my heart grow, it made my face shine with pride, it filled me with joy!!... God wants us to know that Jesus is His!!...  God wants to know that we know that Jesus is His!... be sure to take time to tell God how wonderful His Son us... to tell God how much you appreciate how much His Son did for you!....

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your plans to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.

My Thoughts
God wants us to succeed!!... God wants us to do great things!!... God gives us all that we need to be the person he intended us to be, to reach the people he inteded us to reach!... When we live our life to please God, when we walk with him, when we talk with him, when we do what God ask us to do he will clear the way for things to work out!... how exciting is that!!...God tell us in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ... if you want to be great, if you want to succeed walk with God and God will make sure that the steps you take are steps in the right direction... God is on your side... but you have to do your part... you have to stay with God so he can lead you and direct you.... if you find that you are not succeeding in the things that you do stop and ask yourself and I walking with God, truly walking with God? If your answer is no.... do something about it.... God has the power to change your life, God wants you to succeed1

John 14:27 (Jesus said) "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.

My Thoughts
Jesus leave this gift to the people who love him!... and in John 14:23 Jesus said "All who love me will do what I say.  My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. I can say what I am about to say because I have done this for such a large part of my  life so I have lived without the peace of mind and heart... I really didn't know how to find the peace of mind and heart... but if you don't have peace of mind and heart you have moved away from God...he is there at the crossroads waiting for you to come back to Him... if you walk around today without peace of mind and heart stop and take time for Jesus, take time for God...it says "all who love me will do what I say".. God ask us to grow in wisdom... we do that only by spending time in His word each and every day.... spending time in prayer... I can tell you by my own experience since January that God does great things for you peace of mind and heart when you spend time with Him...and as you grow in wisdom you grow in so many other ways... we can only do what Jesus says if we know what Jesus said... I was always trying to be a good, sweet kind person... but that is not all that Jesus ask of me...and the only way for me to know what God wants in my life is to spend time with him finding out.... I have always been a really anxious person... since I as a little, little girl... I didn't even know you could go through a day without some form of anxiety... I now have a peace that passes all understanding... when I do have an anxious moment I remember that God is in control and I stop and say a prayer and give it to God... sometimes I take it right back... but then I give it right back to God.... and when I do I become calm again... it is so absolutely amazing... so if you don't have peace but do love God...show God that you love him by doing what he ask... and stand back and wait to be totally amazed!

5.24.10

John 13:34-35 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you love each other.  Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

My Thoughts
Jesus said this to his disciples at the last super... these men were very different from each other... the lived with each other day in and day out... they did not always see eye to eye... some days I am sure it was really hard to be loving to each other... but that is what Jesus ask of them... not only were they to love each other...they were to love each other as much as Jesus loved them!... When we become children of God we are his disciples as we are expected to do the same... to love the people around us... even when we don't always like them... as much as Jesus loves us... not that is a lot of loving!!!.... We are ask to do this to prove to the world that we are children of God... what is love... it tell us in I Corinthians 13:4 what love it it says: Love is patient and kind.  Love is  not jealous or boastful or proud, or rude. It does not demand its own way.  It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, it is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. This is not always easy loving everybody around you!!... but God never said it would be easy... but God did say He would reward us for doing what he ask of us.... remember the definition of Love... what God tells us love is... and go out today and love everybody... even the people that are hard to love... just as Jesus loves us when we are hard to love.

5.23.10

Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

My Thoughts
It is impossible to walk with God when you don't know what God's desires for you are, when you don't know what God's plans for you are, when you don't know what God wants from you...and what God doesn't what you to do .... the only way to know this is to read and study God's word.... Not hear it from someone else but to read it for yourself... over and over again until it is so totally a part of your heart that you can't forget it... so that when you are out in the world trying hard to make the right decisions that God's word is always with you... right where you need it ...hidden in your heart so that you know without a doubt what God wants from you... so you know without a doubt what sin is, so you have the weapons to defeat the enemy when he sneaks in from dark corners and unexpected places... be sure and read and study God's word so that you can be all that God plans for you to be, so that you might not sin against God.

5.22.10

Proverbs 15:28 The heart of the godly think carefully before speaking; the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.

My Thoughts
The Bible tells us in Matthew 15:18 But the things which come from the mouth come from the heart.  And hear in Proverbs is clearly  says the heart thinks carefully before speaking!.... then it is confirmed in Matthew that what comes our of our mouth comes from our heart. Ephesians 4:29 it says Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to hearers... I believe we want to be good, caring, kind people but we let life get in the way, and when we do that the devil sneaks into our heart and uses our words to harm, to drive wedges in relationships, to destroys families, to make us look bad... the devil is always waiting to sneak into our hearts...and when bad things come out of our mouth the devil has so accomplished what he set out to do he has planted evil!.... so we need to be careful of our words, guard them!... be mindful of our words... we so like to believe that even when we are spreading gossip, or judging people, or saying unkind things, standing around talking about people, complaining, etc. that we have a good heart... that God will judge our heart not our words... but it says over and over in the Bible that what comes out of our mouth comes from our heart... so when you have a thought come to your head that is not good or edifying ask God to remove that thought from you before it becomes a part of your heart and comes out of your mouth... if you hear yourself saying things you shouldn't say remind yourself that that is not how you want to represent your heart, ask forgiveness and learn to do better... remember if our heart is good the words from out mouth will be good also.

5.21.10

Psalms 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.

My Thoughts
God has all the answers!.... His word is always true... God only wants the best for us.... God keeps all his promises.... God is strong when we are weak..... God is all knowing, all powerful... God is love immeasurable.... People on the other hand have limited experience, vision, knowledge and power....  people often have their own agenda.... and we as people have a limited vision for the future.... It kind of like this would you want  your 14 year old to trust in his friends, take refuge in his friends or trust and take refuge in you?.... you are much wiser then his friends... you love him.... you want only the best for him.... his  future is your agenda... God is all knowing.... lets take refuge in God.... next time you decide to ask a friend what you should do see their face like a teenager and say nope I need to ask God what I should do.

Psalm 117 1-2  Praise the Lord, all your nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth.  For he loves us with his unfailing love; the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord.

My Thoughts
No matter what God is faithful to us!!.... no matter what!!... he loves us always, forever... and he will always, always, always love us!... Always... he loves each and everyone one of us... all the people of the earth and no matter what we have done... God loves us... Now that is something to get excited about!

5.19.10

Proverbs 15:21 Foolishness brings joy to those with no sense; a sensible person stays on the right path.

My Thoughts

We all can be foolish even when we are trying our best to walk with God...and do what God ask... we can get so caught up in a moment of "me" that we loose sight that if we do what God ask  that we forget the rewards will be so much greater down the road.... like Joyce Meyer says you plant the seed... the seed has to grow, that takes time... then the harvest comes.  Sometimes we have to wait on God to groooooooooooooooooow the seed. A good example of this is how we spend our money... we go shopping and see something we "have to have" knowing, knowing that we don't have the money to get it, then we ignore, completely ignore the fact that God doesn't want us to be in debt, Proverbs 22:7 “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”....  but for that moment of instant gratification, for that second of joy we forget this and we put that "toy" on credit and become a slave to "Master Card" for a moment of joy and many sleepless nights of fear about how in the world will we pay this bill or that bill.... foolishness brings short lived joy!.... just think if had done what God would want  and not been a borrower for that toy but saved for it.... it would have cost you less.... if you had needed the money for something else you would have had it and probably not missed the toy... and money is just one example... Does God want to give us joy? you bet he does!!...but he want is to be constant joy... no the joy foolishness brings.... so next time you are in for that moment of joy ask yourself "Would this be a decision God would want me to make?", or does he have a bigger joy for me after my seeds groooooooooow?.... and answer yourself honestly...don't evey get caught up in that fool yourself with "God will provide" if you are not doing what God ask of you.

5.18.10

John 10:9-10 (Jesus said)"Yes, I am the gate.  Those who come in thought me will be saved.  They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.  The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy, My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."

My Thoughts

The devil is just like a drug... he makes you feel good draws you in with euphoria.... just to steal everything, he has seemed to give you, away... and in the end you are so dependent on him.... and so miserable..he has stolen you joy, your peace, your happiness, your livelihood, your family... the devil can get such a hold on you that you feel like you can never get back to the beautiful pasture... he keeps you a prisoner outside the gates.... Jesus is the gate to God and all his great promises... God's promises are true and just and wonderful... when God promises it is a forever promise... when God gives you joy he won't take it from you... he will also give you peace, love, happiness... God will increase your livelihood and your family.... Jesus said  "my promise is to give a rich and satisfying life."  A rich and satisfying life!!... you are free to come and go... but the best part you are free to stay in the beautiful pasture with all the wonderful promises of God... take time with God... stay inside that gate and so your life will be richly blessed in all things.

5.17.10

Proverbs 15:15 For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.

My Thoughts
Despondent means •without or almost without hope; "despondent about his failure"; "too heartsick to fight back". .... I know people that are despondent... it's so sad to watch... even when you know that they should be having fun... even when they are in a room where people are engaging them they are heartsick.... there is nothing you can do for them no matter how hard you try to lift their spirits.... they can even get angry when you try....that can be so sad... and even frustrating.... I have know people so far down that they are  so comfortable with being despondent that they didn't even try for hope... it can bring you to tears... But with God there is always hope... God is the source of all hope.... God is our hope and if we have God with us even in times of trouble our heart is lighter.. we can see light... we know without a doubt that we are not alone and it gives us peace... a peace that truly passes all understanding!!... in in times of happiness... we can fell pure joy!!.... a despondent person knows no joy or happiness... isn't it wonderful, truly wonderful to have God in your corner!

5.16.10

Psalm 112:8 They (those who fear the Lord) do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

My Thoughts
Remember fear of the Lord means profound reverence and awe.... God does not tell us that we won't ever get bad news... or have bad times... God tells us that he will care for the people that love him... that do his will that spend time with him..... he will keep us strong!... he will comfort us.... he will get us through and make us stronger and wiser in the end... how great to have an awesome God with us when we hear bad news!!.... bad new will still hurt and will still be bad...but just think how low those valleys would be if you hadn't had God on your side, with you... holding you up when it's  hard.... try hard to remember when you get bad news to say to God I know you are with me... I know you will help me... thank you God.... and know that God IS with you, God never leaves....but God is polite he only helps us when we invite Him to!

5.15.10

Psalms 111:10 Fear of the lord is the foundation of true wisdom.  All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!

My Thoughts
Fear in this case means profound reverence and awe.... if we love the Lord with all our heart.... do what he ask us to do... then we will grow in wisdom!!.... have you ever met one of those people that just seemed to have all the answers???... even when you didn't like their answers you somehow knew that what they told you to do was right and just an good.... they always made you wonder if you could ever be wise as they were??...I bet they had fear of the Lord.... I bet they listened to God and did what God asked.... I bet they studied their Bible..... I bet that you thought of that person as good to the bone!!!...  were they also the kind of person you wouldn't want to go to for advice when you knew you were making the wrong decision but wanted to do what you wanted to do?.... I bet that person had the wisdom that God will bless you with when you are living like God ask you to live!.... Have you ever thought "oh I wish I was that smart?"... well we can be...God will bless us with wisdom... if we seek Him... the more we seek after God the more wisdom we will get!!.... wouldn't it be so wonderful to feel really secure in the decisions you make in your life!!... well you can if you have profound reverence ans awe of the Lord and obey his commandments... and praise him every time, every time things are good in your life, in your week, in your day!!

5.14.10

John 8:15 Jesus told them, "you judge me by human standards, but I don not judge anyone."

My Thoughts
In John 8:7 when the people were demanding the woman who had committed adultery be stoned Jesus said "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone." and everyone walked away...Did Jesus stone the woman? No Jesus who was without sin loved the woman!... if Jesus who is perfect does not Judge a person even by heavenly standards.... he ask that we who are so far from perfect not judge a person!... we have no idea what a person had come from, what they have been through in their lives, what they have been taught.... Our goal is to be like Jesus!!... to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22)....Jesus didn't judge... Jesus loved... we don't want to be judged by our actions, by our mistakes...we want to be loved in spite of our actions and our mistakes... so today when you feel the need to judge somebody stop and take a moment to ask God to forgive you of your sins...then say a pray for the person that you wanted to judge.... take a moment to be sweet and kind to them, just as Jesus was sweet to the lady that the people wanted to stone... I know as people we tend to pass a lot of pur time talking about people... if we are going to talk about people lets build people up!!...lets never be guilty of stoning them with our words... after all none of us would be able "cast the first stone"... and Jesus didn't!

5.13.10

1 Samuel 14:6b Jonathan said to his armor bearer. "Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!"

My Thoughts
God won Jonathan's battle that day!!...  and saved many men!!... Jonathan listened to God...did the things God asked and God was with Jonathan... when we spend time with God, listening to him, learning his word, doing what God ask of us, then he is with us in our daily battles... just like he was with Jonathan!!.... we need nobody on our side but God!!..... if you wake up today and it seem like a battle just to go to work... stop and talk to God... ask him to help you!!...  Matthew 7:7 Jesus says "Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened." ... when we need God to help us...and that is always, we have to ask... God is polite he isn't going to intrude unless he is invited... we need to invite God into all parts of our life!!... just as Jonathan invited God into battle with him... Then nothing can hinder our progress because God is with us... fighting our battles for us!!.

5.12.10

Proverbs 15:4 Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit..

My Thoughts
Gentle means kind, mild mannered, soft... deceitful means not honest, misleading, deceptive.....In Mark 13:31 Jesus says to Love your neighbor as yourself... would you want somebody talk about you dishonestly, or in a misleading way... to be deceptive about how that represented you.... or would you want someone to say kind things about you... we need to treat people like we want to be treated... love them like we love our-self.... and no matter how they treat us as Christians we are to be kind... to be gentle.... if someone is being deceitful and crushing our spirit don't we crush our own spirit even more if we become like the person that has been hurtful to us??..... I know its hard to be nice to someone who says bad things about you, someone that leaves you with their work to do...it can be really hard... the devil sneaks in your heart through you hurt and frustration... try this for a week and see if it changes you...and maybe even the people around you... every time you want to talk about someone because you are frustrated with them, angry with them, mad at them... say something good about them!!... brag on them!!... pick out something that the do right!!.... be the person of gentle words!!!... talk about them in the same way you would want them to talk about you.... practice this for a whole week!!... and see if it changes you both!!!...when you walk up to your best friend at work to say  he/she gets on my nerves so bad when he/she does ______. ... substitute that will he/she is so good at, he/she looks so nice today.... if it doesn't change the other person it will change you... be the tree of life, not the person that crushes the spirit and God will bless you!

5.11.10

Psalms 107:2 Has the Lord redeemed you? Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.

My Thoughts
Redeemed means to buy back; to save by payment of a ransom; to free from the consequences of sin.... God redeemed us by giving Jesus as payment for our sin... he bought us back!!... as Christians if we are doing our best to do our best... it we are walking with God each day, talking with God each day, reading his word each day... doing our best to do what God wants in our lives.... God will free us from the consequences of our sins!!!... when we are his children and we mess up... but we are trying our best God will fix things for us...isn't that exciting!!!... God will save us from the the enemy(evil) that tries to take hold of us and lead us to sin and sin and sin so much that we get lost from God....but when we walk with God he will protect us from all of that!!...and in return he wants us to tell people all about how he has protected us... about how he paid our ransom.... about how he is with us... and the things he does for us each and every day... it is our job to make sure that the people that we come in contact know what God is doing in our lives ... if we share the great and wonderful love and grace of God others will want what we have...and God ask us to share!!... so today tell somebody something God has done for you!!!...if they say why are you so happy tell them why!!... that God does so much for you that you can't help but be happy.... if they ask how you got over your cold so fast tell them it was God... if they ask how you keep from worring ... say I gave all my worries to God and he takes care of them.... you know the things that God has done in your life.....show God and others how thankful you are that God has redeemed you!

5.10.10

John 6:27 Jesus said "But don't be so concerned about perishable things like food.  Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval."

My Thoughts
How often do we spend our days worrying about how we are going to buy groceries, or buy our kids school clothes for the next year.... I have personally paced the floor for hours spending time with worry about how to do, how to get, which bill to pay first, who to please.... I was brought up by a worrier who was brought up by a worrier..... and boy have I wasted my time worrying!!... just think how much more I would have accomplished if I had just sat down with my Bible and read God's great words of wisdom.... if I had prayed... and sat quietly and listened to God's voice within me..... I would have lots and lots of conversations with God under my belt.... and lots of words of wisdom in my heart... and those conversations and those words would have helped me store up treasures in heaven... and I would have been walking right next to God who provides all that I need.... looking back my kids always had school clothes... my tummy was always full.... my bill were always paid... and I spent so much wasted time pacing the floor...when I could have spent time in prayer and in God's word.... just think how much better those meals would have been, how many fewer bills there would have been to pay... how many more clothes my kids would have had if I had just walked with God more!!!.... I am learning... and like the preacher said I am a work in progress.... next time I feel myself worrying... which I already do lots and lots less because I spending time with God...but next time I feel myself worrying I will stop and pray... or I will pick up my Bible and read... I will seek the peace that passes all understanding... instead of trying to figure it out all on my own... and when I do that the answers will be there... without the worry!!  Praise God!!

5.9.10

John 6:5-6 Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him.  Turning to Phillip, he asked. "Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?" He was testing Phillip, for he already knew what he was going to do.

My Thoughts
Jesus knew he was going to do... Jesus just wanted Phillips, who had seen him do great things, to have faith that Jesus would take care of the disciples and all the people... Phillip showed he did have faith, even after all he has seen in the next verse when Phillip answered "Even if we worked for months, would wouldn't have enough money to feed them!"... when we are facing a difficult situation in our lives whether it be how we are going to pay for something, how we are going to eat, how we are going to get through the day... any difficulties we have to face... Jesus wants to here us say God will take care of this!!...it will be ok God will provide.... Jesus wants to know that will have faith!!.... if we have faith that God will provide the answers will come... so today if you feel your mind asking questions, don't speak them out loud... instead speak out loud its ok I know God will provide....then see what wonderful things happen.

5.8.10

John 5:44 "No wonder you can't believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don't care about the honor that comes from God"

My Thoughts
I wanted to understand this passage more...so I did some studying on it... it is talking about people wanting to please other people.... it is saying that we go around trying all the time to please other people, by the way we walk, talk, dress, by the car we drive, the people we associate with... we are constantly spending time wondering if someone is going to like what we are doing...but we forget to think will God like what I am wearing, will God like what I am saying, will God like what I am doing, will God like my choice of car, will God like how I am acting, will God like how I am doing my job today?.... we need to be more mindful of what God cares about than want people care about... we need to honor God with our thoughts and actions!!... so today when you find yourself wondering if somebody is approving of anything you are doing stop yourself and say instead will God like me today?... will God like my choices today?.. will God like what I am saying? ... wow I need to work on this... I am such a people pleaser... I am going to work on being a God pleaser!!

5.7.10

John 5:19-20 So Jesus explained, " I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself.. He does only what he sees the Father doing.  Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even great works than healing this man."

My Thoughts

Even Jesus knew he could do nothing without God... and Jesus knew that if he did the things God showed him to do that he could do even greater things than healing.... if Jesus knew he needed God to be able to accomplish all that he was capable of  then don't we need God!!... of course we do... Jesus did wonderful things, miraculous things... things we never imagine doing... but there is so much more we can do that we are doing... but to be able to do those things we have to depend on God to help us.. we have to spend time with God reading his word, learning what he wants,  quiet time listening to God when we pray...not just us doing all the talking...  God loves us ....if we depend on God just as Jesus did then God will show us how to do greater things than we are doing right now... greater things than we even know how to dream of... remember if Jesus could do nothing without God neither can we!

5.6.10

Proverbs 14:26 Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children.

My Thoughts
The definition of fear is... dread or alarm in facing danger; profound reverence and awe.... when the Bible talks about fear of the Lord it is referring to profound reverence and awe... reverence means profound respect....and awe means an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration... so if we respect God enough to do what he ask... if we admire him... be in wonder of him... he will be a refuge for our children!!!.. refuge means safety; a safe place. Proverb is defined as a basic truth... which says to me that it is a basic truth that if we respect and admire God he will keep our children safe... is there in better reason in the world to do what God ask... to talk to God... to learn his word and seek wisdom... so if you don't make time for God for  yourself... make time for God so your children will be safe.

5.5.10

Psalms 105:1 Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.  Let the whole world know what he has done.

My Thoughts
So often we think that it is the preachers, or the deacons that are supposed to be the witnesses for God... for what Jesus has done... but we are all supposed to do just that... the world will only know about God if we all go forward and tell about the things God has done for us.... and God will give us the opportunity to do so.... different people will respond to different personalities... to different stories about how God has changed  lives... we need to trust that God will give us the right words to say to the people we come in contact with... and God ask us to do this gently and kindly... not  offensively ... one of the best ways to be a witness of God's great love and power is to live your own life in a way where God is showering us with his love and blessings... we need to so  be walking God's love that people see the joy in our lives... when people see us glowing with God's love they will ask us what makes us so happy... what makes our life work ... then we will have a chance to be the witness God wants us to be... if we live in the will of God... he will change our life so much that people will ask what gives us joy... what makes us able to do good in the presence of unkindness... people will ask how can we be so forgiving.....how we can turn the other cheek.... people will ask why we glow... where our joy comes from... people will ask what gives us strength in the face of adversity.... and then we can do our part in letting the world know what God has done for us... we can be the witness God ask us to be.... lets live our life today being what God wants us to be... doing what God asks us to do... loving our neighbor as ourselves... so that we will so be filled with God's strength and love and joy that people ask.

5.4.10

Proverbs 14:22 If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.

My Thoughts

Oh I so tried to write about something different today... I kept picking out a different verse from my daily Bible reading...by my eyes kept coming back to this verse... so I just felt that God was nudging me.... so I looked up evil...it means several things  bad, sinful, of the devil, it also means  something that brings sorrow, distress, or misfortune... we like to think of evil as larger than these things.... murder, torture, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson.... pure from the devil complete evil... but evil is simpler than that and we need to guard against it... when you are at work and you head straight toward the break room to talk about somebody that is sin... and sin is evil.... when we are at work and we don't give our employer 100% that day... that is sin... and sin is evil... mind you 100% of ourselves can change from day to day... but we are to do our best at work to give that days 100%..... this one will be very unpopular... but its important.. if we overspend and are not good stewards of our money ... that is sin... sin is evil.... if we gossip ... that is sin... sin is evil... you can think of many examples... I know I can... I myself can be so lazy... laziness is sin.. sin is evil.... and I promise you I never thing of that as evil.... but I will have to rethink it for sure... when you want to be aware you know when you sin.... and we don't want to be lost from God... sin, evil separates us from God... goodness brings us closer to God.... being kind, doing our work to the best of our ability, cleaning the kitchen instead of taking a nap first, spending time in the break room saying nice things about people and building them up... Today try this... anytime you feel yourself about to do something that is wrong...think of something that is good to replace it with... if you are about to talk about somebody... think of something nice to say ... even if you have to pick somebody else to say it about... if you find yourself at work saying I am not going to be the only person doing that!!... stop and say I am at work I will do my job... if you want a nap (me) clean the kitchen first... when we are tempted to buy something we don't have to have when money is tight a "toy", a item of clothing that we don't have money for... put it back... and the list goes on...and see how you feel at the end of the day!!!... see if you don't feel God's love... see if you don't feel joy... see if that nap you take after you clean the kitchen first isn't a more restful nap... go about your day planing to do good!

5.3.10

John 3:17 "God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."

My Thoughts
We are supposed to be like Jesus.... so today lets not judge anyone that crosses our path... and lets take any chance we get to show that Christ lives in us.... lets live in a way today that makes people want the joy we have...lets live our life today in a way that would make the people around us want God in their lives.

5.2.10

Psalms 103:2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; my I never forget the good things he does for me.

My Thoughts

We are reminded here to always always remember that good things God does for us... we need to be in constant awareness of the good things God does for us as we come and go.... spend time each day taking time to notice what good things are happening in your life...then take the time to send up a quick prayer of thanks.... we so often dwell on the negative things that are happening to us...that we get consumed and the devil loves that... instead lets get consumed by the good things that happen in our day...lets keep our eyes on God and his goodness... and make an effort to notice all the good things that happen to us... a person's smile, or kind word... how work just seems to come together... that we got dressed without a hitch...that all the red lights were green... that our boss said hey you are doing a good job.... when the line opens up at the grocery store... when someone lets you in in traffic... anything that happens in our day that makes it easier or happier is God going before us making a path better... so send up a thank you to God and let him know that you notice what he is doing for you!
Hugs

5.1.10

Psalms 102:28 "The children of your people will live in security.  Their childern's children will thrive in your presence.

My Thoughts

Thrive means to prosper; be fortunate or successful, to grow or develop vigorously; flourish...  Security means the state of being free from danger or injury... God wants all these things for us...he is willing go give them to us if we spend time in his presence... so we have a responsibility in this relationship that is to spend time in the presence of God... we have to be present with God which means being, existing, or occurring at this time or now....Our part is to take time to be present with God...to take time for God...to talk to him, to exist in quietness with him so we can hear him speak to our heart.... we have to take time for God and in return he will prosper us... give us success... help us grow and develop the skills we need to advance his kingdom... we will flourish... if we take time to be in the presence of God... stop each day and take time to be with God... talk to God, listen to God, read his word and learn what he want for you and needs from you...I promise this time  you spend with God will change your life!!... even if you don't feel like you have the time take the time anyway... make the time and then God will work out the things in your life so that you have the time... it won't make your life harder...taking time for God will make your life so much easier!... I challenge you to try it and see how it changes you!
